Owners Margaret and Phillip Schwebel received the community involvement award at last week's Collins Booksellers Conference in Melbourne.
The business has become the main ticket seller for events organised by charity groups such as Rotary, RSPCA and the Riding for Disabled.
It was also recognised for its role in supporting authors from the area, donating books and vouchers sending guest authors to schools and clubs, supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and starting a book club for teens.
Mr Schwebel said the couple wanted to ensure they supported causes which kept young people reading.
"Being in a central location, people find it easy to pick up tickets," he said.
Grants awarded
SEVEN community organisations have benefited from $120,000 in grants through the Westfund Community Grants Program.
The program awarded money to Orange Youth Centre, Riding for the Disabled, Migrant and Refugee Support Service, Food Care Orange, Orange Women's Shed, Bowen Community Technology Centre and Orange Woodworkers.
Westfund regional manager Nicole Buesnel was pleased with such a successful round of the program for Orange.
"As passionate supporters of organisations that inspire the principles of health and wellbeing, fitness for life, family and community, we are proud to support the Orange community through our Community Grants Program," she said.
The next round of the program is scheduled to open on 15 November 2019.
Charity ramps up
AS World Food Day approaches, Zambrero Orange has encouraged people to get involved in efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty.
The chain usually donates a meal for every burrito sold, but area manager Dominic Sami said this Wednesday, it would donate two.

"One meal can feed up to six people," he said.
Those who want to take an extra step can register for the Plate 4 Plate meal packing day in Sydney on Wednesday through the chain's website, with all meals packed going to Timor.
