Aaron Leigh Burkett, 40, of Dalton Street, was walking along Phillip Street about 11pm on March 7.

Police stopped to speak to him and he said he was walking home from his girlfriend's house.

During the conversation police officers noticed he had bloodshot eyes and smelt cannabis on his breath.

Burkett was searched and a resealable plastic bag containing cannabis was found in his backpack.

The cannabis was weighed in the packaging.

Burkett was fined $220 for the drug possession and was not present in Orange Local Court on Monday.
