However, people will be looking to rug up over the weekend as the mercury dips even further.
A few snowflakes fell early on Friday but only for a few seconds, and nothing hit the ground in the city, but the temperature was as low as three degrees at 8.30am and the 'feels like' temperature was -7.5 just over an hour later.
The worst is yet to come, with a top of four degrees on Saturday and just three degrees on Sunday, with minimums of negative one and snow predicted over both days.
There's also an 80 per cent chance of five to 10 millimetres of snow for Saturday, with Sunday also likely to bring the city a light dusting.
