The Orange race car driver has signed on with Garry Rogers Motorsport, one of the biggest names in the game and a team famed for developing young talent.
"It's a very cool accolade and something that you can only really dream of," Burcher said.
"You don't need to go far to look at all the drivers they've brought through and they're very renowned for giving a young kid a chance. Hopefully I can be a part of that pyramid and we'll see what we can achieve."
Burcher spent this past year competing in the Australian Formula Ford Championship where he finished third place overall.
But come 2022, he will be racing in the Trans Am Australia. It all came about after he did a test drive for his now new team in an S5000 last year. Although the timing wasn't right then, he left a lasting impression.
"It's obviously quite a big difference going from a Formula Ford which is about 500kg with the driver and 130 horsepower to now being in a nearly 500 horsepower car that weighs a bit over a tonne," he said.
"It's a philosophy change and it's a left hand drive car. I've got a roof over my head now and it's something different but I'm looking forward to giving it a run and seeing what we can do.
"I also want to improve myself over the year, it will be a steep learning curve going from a little open wheel car to a big powerful Trans Am Mustang that's going to move around a lot. It's a challenge that I'm up for and looking forward to."
Burcher will now take charge of the Ford Mustang driven by James Moffat at Sydney Motorsport Park in November.
"It's going to be quite a busy offseason. We're going to get the preseason training in check and that will be the biggest priority over the offseason, to make sure I'm at my absolute peak for the start of the year," the Orange racer added.
"We'll start to test the car, get some miles and laps under our belt and then start the first round which I think will be in the middle of February. "It's going to be a pretty flat out couple of months to make everything worth its while."
