The Orange driver is currently running second in the NSW Formula Ford Series ahead of this weekend's race at Phillip Island, despite deciding not to take part in the previous round.
"It was a decision we made to make sure we give next year the best crack possible," he said of skipping the race.
"There were also a couple of factors that made it logistically impossible to get there. We missed that round but fortunately we're still second in the championship and we're able to get down the final round at Phillip Island this week.
"We'll see how that goes because it's been over a year and a half since I've been to Phillip Island and it's one of my favourite places in general, so the excitement is very high to get out there."
But that's far from the biggest thing on Burcher's mind at the moment, which the driver expected to announce a change of teams by next week.
"It's going to be a pretty cool step up and something with a lot more power and it's a tin top as well, moving away from the open wheeler which is cool and something different and something I'm very excited about," he said.
"The team that we're going to be with is very prestigious in motorsport in Australian sport, which makes it even more exciting for us."
"Being able to make something big happen is obviously really cool.
"To make that step up to a bigger category and something with a bit more exposure around the whole motorsport scene is really good."
