But for Matt Corben, Ben Sims, Taylor Sims and Josh Sims, it is about much more than a little competition between friends.
They are taking part in The Longest Day of Golf to raise money for the Cancer Council and Lara Yaroslavceff who was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year.
"We know Lara's mum and dad from church. They've been down in Sydney since Lara was diagnosed which has been pretty tough on them," Corben said.
"They've had to separate from their other two kids who have been back here. With all the COVID restrictions as well it's been pretty tough."
Corben had never heard of the event until a friend of his mentioned it.
"So I did a bit of research into it and thought it might be a fun way of raising money," he added.
"We thought we'd get in and do a challenge to raise awareness of the cancer itself and get some money towards the research itself."
Between the four of them, they have already raised more than $3000.
When asked how they train for an event like this, Corben said: "Get down and play as much golf as you can, I think.
"It's a good excuse to play and my wife has to let me now I guess. You also do lots of walking and stuff like that."
The four will take to the Duntryleague course on December 13, for what is expected to be a gruelling 12 hours of golf.
"We're as confident as you can be doing something you've never done before," Corben laughed.
"I think we'll just keep pushing through. It's nothing compared to what Lara is going through.
"I think the last ten holes will be alright, I think it's the middle ten that might be the challenge. You might get some adrenaline by the end. It's going to be a long day, but we'll be alright."
