Round two of the Charles Sturt University Advantage early offer program preferences personal attributes such as communication, empathy, resilience and motivation, and takes into consideration academic aptitude, including Year 11 results, to determine success as a student and in the workforce.
President of the Central West Careers Advisers Association, and Orange High careers advisor, Glen Pearson, said Charles Sturt Advantage is a great opportunity for Year 12 students to showcase their capabilities beyond just an ATAR.
"They are able to gain early entry into the course of their dreams before the pressures of HSC examinations," he said.
"I think with such uncertainty in the world at the moment, gaining an offer is probably the only certainty these students have had of late, it has brought an enormous sense of relief and optimism for study in the new year."
Canobolas Rural Technology High School careers advisor Ms Caroline Wilson said the school had more students engage in the program this year.
"They have found the application process clear and appropriate to the skills and abilities they have and need for university," Ms Wilson said.
"Greater engagement with the University has allowed students to clarify why they would choose to attend Charles Sturt and gain much greater clarity of campus life."
Charles Sturt interim vice-chancellor professor John Germov said successful applicants to the program will gain an insight into what studying at CSU is like by helping them connect with the university community before they begin their studies next year.
"By creating a connection with current students, peers, and the university's support services, our commencing students gain the confidence and skills to succeed in their studies," he said.
Offers to Orange schools to date include: Orange High School, 14 offers; Kinross Wolaroi School, 18 offers; Orange Christian School, two offers; James Sheahan Catholic High School, 11 offers; Canobolas Rural Technology High School, seven offers and Orange Anglican Grammar School with four offers.
Round two of the Charles Sturt Advantage program will close on Tuesday, August 31, with offers expected to be made in late September.
