The Central Western Daily has not identified the 49-year-old Orange man in order to protect the identity of the victim.
According to information presented to the court the man left marks on the woman's arm when he grabbed her on September 6 last year.
The next day he accused her of speaking to other men and dragged her to the floor by her hair and smashed her head on the ground about four times during an assault that lasted between 15 to 20 minutes before the woman fled and a neighbour called police.
Magistrate David Day sentenced the man to nine month's jail with a six-month non-parole period until October 21. An apprehended domestic violence order was extended to five years.
He was also placed on a two year community correction order requiring rehabilitation and treatment for contravining an ADVO on December 12, 2020, by going to the victims house where he argued with her.
