Hayden Reece Whiteman had been drinking for five hours and had had nothing to eat when he decided to drive home on December 18, 2020.
The P-plater had just turned left into his street - Cassey Crescent - off Burrendong Way when he was stopped by an RBT shortly after 11.30pm.
Police officers observed Whiteman swaying "where he stood and his eyes were glazed".
His breath also "smelled moderately of intoxicating liquor". He returned a high-range blood alcohol reading of 0.152 and his licence was suspended.
In Orange Local Court on Monday, Whiteman was convicted by magistrate David Day and had his licence disqualified for four months.
For the next 24 months he is also required to use a mandatory interlock - an electronic breath-testing device linked to the car's ignition.
