Gemma Hall said she was upset to find out he had been the victim of such a crime and would now need to pay for the repairs.
“I think it is disgusting really. It’s very immature and heartless,” she said.
“When I saw Pop’s photo in the [Central Western Daily] my mum and I said we needed to do something about it, so we set up a GoFundMe.”
Mrs Hall said about $495 had already been pledged.
“Plus I had the Cargo Inn donate $100 to me,” she said.
Mr Hall left his scooter outside a house in Lewana Place on Saturday, January 5.
It was stolen by three youths who were later seen doing “wheelies on it down at Kmart” but fled before police could arrest them.
Mr Hall said the scooter had been ridden into something solid, causing substantial damage he had since been quoted at least $1000 to repair.
“That’s what they told me, $1000, but that’s without the mechanics. It could be more,” he said.
Mr Hall said he could not afford it on the aged pension.
The GoFundMe page is titled Repair for My Pop’s Gopher.
“That’s what I call it, my gopher,” he said.
