According to www.weatherzone.com.au, the first of the city’s plus-30-degrees days will be Boxing Day, when the forecast is for a maximum of 31 degrees.
That will rise in the following days, with the mercury tipped to get as high as 34 degrees by the Friday.
Elsewhere in the region the warmth will be oppressive, especially in the west.
Dubbo will get as high as 40 degrees on Saturday, with Parkes and Forbes tipped to hit the same mark, while Mudgee will get as hot as 38 degrees.
Bathurst will be slightly milder, with an expected maximum of 37 degrees in the back end of the week.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology's acting state manager Agata Imielska, there is no end in sight for the heatwave.
She has urged people to check weather warnings across the holiday period.
“It’s very important to keep safe and to keep mindful of the dangerous heat coming our way which is also expected to be very dry,” Ms Imielska said.
