After operating in the city since 1973 the shop’s journey has continued with another change of venue.
Store manager Jeff Townsend said after closing its McNamara Street premises it had now re-opened inside the Salvation Army shop in Summer Street.
“We’ve been in Orange for 45 years and this is the fifth location,” he said.
“Every time it has been a challenge to let people know.”
Mr Townsend said the venue should be better for business.
“We were keen to be in a more accessible area with more people [coming past].
“We felt we would be able to better reach the public here.
“There is a nice marriage with the Salvation Army.”
He said that while they had a 30 per cent reduction in space the rent was less.
“We’ve been able to cut costs across the board. It’s about better engagement with the community,” he said.
The store is non-denominational and its stock includes books, gifts, CDs, DVDs and greeting cards.
ON THE GRID
Orange car dealer Tim Leahey has taken a lead from his motor racing background in the design of a new service centre at the Tony Leahey Motor Group.
“I wanted to design it like a race workshop that is tidy and clean,” he said.
The group is replacing a “couple of old sheds” left over from when it was a Holden dealership in the 1980s with a state-of-the-art service and workshop facility.
The new service area opened on Monday and can service 13 cars at once.
It will be used for a range of activities including new vehicle preparation, servicing, detailing, window tinting, paint and fabric work.
The facility even boasts a bay for taking photos of cars to post on social media.
