Thanks to the enormous success of Orange's Biggest Garage Sale which was held earlier this year, the event's organiser - the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak - has been able to give a generous portion of proceeds from the day to a local Aboriginal men's group.

On Wednesday, volunteers from Daybreak Rotary were pleased to present $4000 to the Yarruwala Ngulubul Men's Group to assist them in organising camps which reconnect members to "country and culture".
The donation was a result of Daybreak Rotary Club raising over $25,000 in the one day at Orange's Biggest Garage Sale. Since it was held, the local organisation has been distributing money raised to community groups throughout the city, according to Daybreak's "public image director", Bob Derrick.
"Despite COVID19 limitations, the club has raised an outstanding $130,000 this year for distribution to local groups," Mr Derrick added.
Yarruwala Ngulubul spokesperson Chris Jones said that the donation would also help the group run sessions from an Indigenous perspective with specialist speakers on topics such as alcohol and drug abuse, as well as diet and the direct effect it has on mental health.
"Thank you to the amazing people of Orange who attended Orange's Biggest Garage Sale, and who have blessed us with this support," Mr Jones added. "We are truly grateful."
Mental health initiatives will be the focus of the Rotary club in the months ahead, culminating in the "Lift the Lid" campaign at the November Farmers' Market, where patrons, stall holders and Rotarians will be asked to wear a funny hat to show their support.
Daybreak Rotary president Bruce Smith said that the "the simple act of wearing a silly or funny hat is a great way of showing our support for initiatives on mental health."
"It just illustrates that we care," he said.
