The annual dance spectacular which raises money for the Cancer Council was postponed on June 26, just hours before people were set to flock into Function Centre.
A later date for October 16 was then tentatively put forward. But the combination of COVID throughout Western NSW and the Greater Sydney region, combined with the lockdown that the virus brings, meant both dates weren't doable.
Now Ricky Puata, Cancer Council's Community Lead for Western NSW, has announced they have a new date of February 19 of next year for when they envision the show taking place.
"Given the continuing risk to public health posed by COVID-19 and the NSW Government Health restrictions on gatherings, Stars of Orange 2021 will be postponed to Saturday, February 19, 2022," he said.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health of our supporters - your safety must come first. We're confident that the postponement is in the best interests of everyone involved, as well as the wider NSW community.
Despite the change in event date, our amazing stars and dance schools remain on board. We are so grateful for your continued support and understanding, and we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this decision may cause."
Stars include: Andrew Moxon (representing Waratahs/Department of Human Services), Billie-Rae White (representing The Smoko Shed), Erin Quarmby (representing United BJJ & Boxing), duo Jack Evans and Kaitlyn Cowden (Worklocker/HitFM105.9), the Orange Cardiac Cath Lab, duo Matt Boss and Glen Maxwell (Hawkes Rugby League), Orange Vet Hospital, Tom Corrigan (Prime7 News Central West), Wayne McDonnell (McDonnell Earthmoving) and father-daughter duo Luke and Julia Patrick (L-Con and Orange High School).
"In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to follow the current NSW Government Health advice to reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19," Mr Puata added.
"If you or someone you know has cancer and are concerned, please call our 13 11 20 information and support line."
