One Fire and Rescue NSW crew was dispatched to the incident in Cedar Street at around 12.15am on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after firefighters were tasked to a separate car fire on Maramba Road.
The car in question was parked in a carport at a residential property and while it took officers just 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, the vehicle was completely destroyed and the carport sustained some minor damage as well.
Although the carport was located less than two metres away from the property's main building and the vehicle was well-alight when firefighters arrived, the fire posed no serious threat to the structure as officers extinguished it.
The occupants of the property were at home during the incident, which was located in a significantly different area to the majority of recent car fires.
Including the first car fire this year on January 1 there had been at least 11 other vehicles torched in the city prior to Wednesday's incident, with the majority of those vehicles being discovered and extinguished in east Orange.
Tuesday morning's blaze was in the south-western reaches of Orange.
The investigation was handed to police after the fire was extinguished, inquiries continue.
