According to police, Andrew John McDonald, formerly of Pinnacle Road, Orange, parked next to a Dominos' pizza delivery vehicle in the car park off Sale Street about 8.10pm on January 8.
An unknown male passenger got out of his car and stole the sign from the roof of the Dominos' vehicle and got back into McDonald's car.
McDonald drove away and staff from the pizza shop contacted police who reviewed CCTV footage.
McDonald was arrested on June 16. The sign was damaged but returned.
Magistrate David Day placed him on a 12-month Community Correction Order and a $550 fine for the larceny and he fined him $550 for not disclosing the passenger's details.
