Christopher Bennett, 32, of Burrendong Way, pleaded guilty in Orange Local Court to cultivating a prohibited plant after his housemate presented the 70 centimetre cannabis plant he had been growing in the shower to police.
He was not present in Orange Local Court for sentencing.
According to information presented to the court, Bennett and his female housemate had only lived together for a week-and-a-half before they got into an argument about 12.45am on February 11, 2021.
Police said the argument was over $200 the woman accused Bennett of taking, which he denied.
During the argument the woman called triple zero but Bennett grabbed the phoned and said she had bipolar and hung up.
Police attended at 12.50am and Bennett denied taking the money but was arrested for the cannabis plant when the woman handed it over.
Magistrate David Day convicted Bennett in his absence and fined him $220.
