Following several rounds of big-hitting one-day games it's time for clubs' patience with the willow to arise.
Let's take a look at how Saturday's action unfolded across Bathurst and Orange.
CAVALIERS (2-120) leads BATHURST CITY by 120 runs
THE only real winner on the opening day between Bathurst City and Cavaliers at the Sportsground on Saturday was the rain.
Only 30 overs of the Cavaliers innings took place, with the visiting side making their way to 2-120 at the end of play.
There are danger signs for Redbacks with Cavs skipper Matt Corben (38 not out) and Bailey Ferguson (40 not out) currently on an unbeaten 67 run partnership.
But the question will be how long Cavs decide to bat this coming weekend.
It's highly unlikely City will be claiming eight wickets before Cavaliers pull the pin on their own innings so a lot will come down to how well the current pair with the bat see the ball early next Saturday.
And how hard will they be swinging in those overs?
Clint Moxon was the standout bowler for Redbacks.
Moxon claimed 2-38 from his 14.4 overs, claiming the scalps of Hugh Middleton (12) and Will Luelf (25) and bowling four maidens.
CENTRALS (185) leads KINROSS (6-27) by 158 runs
THE only thing that will stop Centrals from claiming their first win of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition is the weather.
Centrals made their way to 185, led by Fletcher Rose's 59, before having opponents Kinross reeling at the end of the day at 6-27.
Zac Reimer ripped through the Kinross top order with absurd figures of 4-6 from his eight overs, six of which were maidens.
Rose contributed with two wickets of his own in a great all-round performance to leave Kinross in all sorts of trouble going into day two.
Thoughts of outright victory have to be at the forefront of Centrals' thoughts right now but there's still work to be done this Saturday at Wade Park.
Nelson Shepherd was a bright spot for Kinross with supreme figures of 6-44.
RUGBY UNION (220) leads ORANGE CITY by 220 runs
ORANGE City's Ed Morrish has made an early claim for performance of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket season with his remarkable figures of 8-56 in Saturday's opening day against Rugby Union.
Morrish bowled nearly 22 overs for his figures, ending his incredible day with the ball by stopping Rugby's Jameel Qureshi (93) from carrying his bat.
The Rugby opener produced a gallant effort with the bat from 243 deliveries as everyone else fell around him, though captain Ryan Peacock (31) and Jonah Ruzgas (21) chipped on to take the team to 220 all out.
But the opening day belonged to Morrish.
He created history at Bloomfield Oval, becoming the first person since the reformation of the BOIDC to claim eight wickets in an innings and just the second to take seven or more.
Brett Causer (1-30) and Blake Weymouth (1-38) had a good time with the ball as well, putting City in a strong position heading into next Saturday.
CYMS (109) leads ST PAT'S OLD BOYS (2-77) by 32 runs
ST PAT'S Old Boys were left baffled by CYMS' decision to bat first at Riawena Oval on Saturday and within the space of a couple of overs you could see why.
A very active pitch allowed Jack Goodsell and Mitch Taylor to wreak havoc on a CYMS order who, until this game, had looked to be one of the most well-rounded outfits with the bat.
Goodsell claimed his first five wicket BOIDC haul with figures of 5-27 from 16 overs (including eight maidens) and Taylor wasn't far away as he snared 3-37 from 15 overs.
It could have been even worse for CYMS, who were at one stage sitting at 5-32, before Harry West (40) added some respectability to the final score.
But by the time the Saints came out to bat the pitch had lost a lot of the activity it showed earlier in the day and became a reasonable batting strip.
Adam Ryan, Bailey Brien and Connor Slattery all hit exactly 20 runs for the Saints, who have already found their way to 2-77 in reply.
The latter two will still be at the crease next Saturday.
CITY COLTS (6-192) leads CENTENNIALS BULLS by 192 runs
WITH limited match time in Saturday's opening day between City Colts and Centennials Bulls it's hard to gauge who's got the upper hand at Loco Oval.
Colts are at a modest total of 6-192 heading into day two - a score that normally wouldn't inspire a world of confidence at the small ground - but that came off just 43 overs of batting.
When Colts resume their innings next weekend they'll likely let Russ Gardner (78 not out) cut loose in his search for the team's first century of the season.
He received a strong helping hand in Saturday's play from Josh Toole (47) and Dave Giorgio (38).
Opening bowlers Kyle Aubin (1-46 from 14 overs, plus five maidens) and Kurt Toole (2-54 from 13 overs) did the bulk of the workload and the damage for the Bulls.
They gave themselves a brilliant start by removing in-form pair Dave Sellers (3) and Henry Shoemark (6) early, to have Colts 2-11, before their opponents added 140 runs for the next two wickets.
