Sydney Thunder young-gun Phoebe Litchfield will make her WBBL return on Saturday

But she knows now, in her second year in the Women's Big Bash League, every time she drops down on one knee and laps one over third man the target on her back will grow bigger, and bigger.

"I think that's the thing second year coming back," Litchfield said ahead of her first WBBL game of the year against the Strikers on Saturday.

"(There's pressure) to perform as well as I did last year. I was lucky enough to score runs and hopefully this year it's the same.

"Obviously teams will have plans against me, but being able to adapt to that and finding other ways to score will be key."

And playing the only way Litchfield knows how - with the backing of her coach Trevor Griffin - will be the teenager's game plan this season.

"I think if I go out there and block a few balls and be scared to try different things that's when I'll get out," she said.

"Sometimes I image myself on other people, they're the greatest in the world, but I think Trevor is saying to not be afraid to do things you can do.

"Be your own batter and take the game on."

This year's Thunder line-up is boosted by the recruitment of star English duo Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont and two-time WBBL champion with the Brisbane Heat, pace bowling all-rounder Sammy-Jo-Johnson.

They're experienced players Litchfield is banking on learning plenty off.

"In the few days I've been here, they've been great in the nets to learn from. They're just great to be around," the Kinross student added.

Saturday's game begins at 12.15pm at Spotless Stadium, before Sunday's game against the Heat.
