The Streatfeilds are hosting a monster garage sale from 8am Friday, 7am Saturday and from 7am on Sunday with the proceeds to go to Sarah and Robbie Thorncraft, whose eight-month-old son Benny is being treated for a rare cancer.
Mrs Streatfeild said she had looked after Benny through her Family Day Care role and she and her husband wanted to help the family while Benny undergoes surgeries and chemotherapy in Sydney.
"The family has been hit by an extremely rare form of cancer," she said.
"We are trying our very hardest to help them."
As well as being close to Benny and his family, Mrs Streatfeild said she and her husband could identify with what they were going through.
"Our own daughter was down in Sydney hospital for four years so we know whats going on for them and their family and friends," she said.
The couple's daughter Lauren is now an adult and will help at the garage sale.
Mrs Streatfeild said following their experience her family also donates to Westmead Children's Hospital and Careflight for helping their daughter when she was a child.
She said items that were donated for the three-day sale included a dining table and chairs, power tools, women's shoes, a barbecue set and clothes along with many other items.
Although the items were second hand, she said they were of good quality and all money raised would go towards helping Benny's family.
"It's just unbelievable what we've had donated, hopefully it's going to be a wonderful three days," Mrs Streatfeild said.
In addition to the monster garage sale at 16 Bartlett Street, Mrs Streatfeild has also raised $2000 through donations from various community members to a Facebook fundraiser.
She said a donation tin will be available for anyone who doesn't find anything they want to buy but who still wants to help and any leftover items will be donated to people who lost their property in the recent bushfires.
