The small blaze, which was quickly contained by firefighters, was on a patch of grass near the now demolished Kurim Shopping Centre site.
The blaze was completely extinguished by around 4.10pm.
Fire and Rescue NSW officials say the origin of the fire, which burnt a section of grass about half a tennis court in size, is unknown.
It's the second grass fire firefighters have tackled in the last three days, with another small blaze on McLachlan Street reported on Wednesday night.
That fire was deliberately lit.
There is currently a total fire ban in place for Orange and the Central Rangers. The fire danger rating for the area is rated as very high.
Anyone with information on a deliberately lit fire is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
