The barbecue will coincide with national Youth Homelessness Matters Day on April 17, to provide a reminder that young people in Orange experience homelessness.
With the problem on the rise across the country, services like Veritas have felt the impact - offering assistance to more than 150 young people in Orange each year.
According to Veritas House Orange homelessness team leader, Ty Mostyn about 70 per cent of young people are escaping conflict and violence which often includes an abusive, violent or broken home.
"Most are hidden from view through couch surfing and sleeping in cars - so it is easy to assume it doesn't exist in a town like Orange, but that's not the case," he said.
Mr Mostyn said Youth Homelessness Matters Day is a chance to become aware of how to support a young person experiencing homelessness and the barbecue will offer insight into what services are offered in Orange.
"We hope local young people and their families will join us for what we hope will be a fun and informative day," he said.
Veritas House is a not-for-profit organisation established in the Central West more than 35 years ago.
It has grown to become one of the largest providers of youth homelessness and foster care services in the region, supporting more than 600 children and young people in Orange and Bathurst each year.
Running from April 10-18, Youth Week is a week-long celebration held in early April each year that is organised by young people, for young people, in communities across the state.
