According to the Australian Conservatives candidate for the seat of Orange there were more important issues that were ignored during the political slinging match over the Coalition pledge to fund a $25 million sports facility in the city.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the funding – on the condition that Nationals candidate Kate Hazelton is elected – during a visit to Orange on Wednesday.
The conditional funding raised the ire of Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party member for Orange Phil Donato who said he would refer the conditional funding the the Australian Electoral Commission.
Mr McMahon said there were other issues, such as crime that should be the focus of the candidates.

“We should not lose sight of the many other situations in Orange requiring funding, including better support for our police and local health services,” he said.
“The number of cars being put to fire is just out of order.
“Our local member has to fight to get the protection and I worry about my own vehicle.
“Whoever gets elected will have to deal with a whole range of things.”
Mr McMahon said in regard to the proposed sporting facility the money would come from the sitting government.
“Neither the Shooters Fishers Farmers nor the Nationals will be funding a $25 million sports complex. This is a ridiculous statement to make,” he said.
“If elected I will fight to secure the funding from the sitting NSW government for that project.”
