While hot conditions are expected this time of the year, the Bureau of Meteorology said the duration of the heat was unusual.
On Wednesday the mercury got as high as 31 degrees in the thermometer in Orange.
It’s expected to climb even higher in the next few days, with tops of 33 degrees on Thursday and Saturday sandwiching the week’s hottest mark of 34 degrees on Friday.
Elsewhere in the region temperatures in the early 40s are forecast for Young and Parkes on Friday.
In Dubbo, Forbes and Wellington temperatures are predicted to reach the high 30s, while it will hover around the mid 30s in Bathurst, Mudgee and Lithgow.
