Councillor Stephen Nugent said there was good work happening in Glenroi between the youth centre at the Garema Road community, the Glenroi Community Group and the Orange United sporting club.
He said he and councillor Jason Hamling had attended the past two community meetings and there had been good attendance by residents
“We have some momentum,” he said.
We need to develop a plan that the community owns, that people will get on board with and stick with that plan all the way through.

Cr Nugent said the recent Christmas festival was well-attended with no problems, however there were issues in Glenroi the council needed to tackle.
“We need, as a council, to be part of trying to find a solution there,” he said.
“We need to not just do band-aid solutions here and there, we need to develop a plan that the community owns, that people will get on board with and stick with that plan all the way through.”

He said the plan would take five to 10 years to implement, but it would allow the council to apply for government funding.
“Along with the Orange Future City, we need to be focusing on other parts of Orange as well,” he said.
Councillors endorsed the motion unanimously, along with an intention to set an annual budget to implement the master plan.
Glenroi Community Group member and former councillor Neil Jones was encouraged by the result, given the group had been appealing for council support since the previous council.
“It’s been a long time coming – there have been things done before in bits and pieces,” he said.
After the group appealed in the media for support, Mr Jones said government organisations had made the difference, with representatives from the council, Central West Police District, Family and Community Services and NSW Housing all becoming involved.
“It gives encouragement that people care and want to help,” he said.
