A couple from South Australia on a driving holiday did just that after scoring $1 million in last week’s Lotto draw from an entry they purchased while passing through the town.
The couple’s entry was the only division one winner across Australia.
Parkes has had an inordinate number of lottery winners in recent years, including at one stage last year boasting three major winners in less than 12 months.
My husband said ‘we’ve got four numbers, oh we’ve got five numbers, no love, we’ve got six. It was amazing.
Greg Nash, owner of newsXpress where last week’s ticket was purchased, was celebrating another big win originating from his shop.
“We’ve sold a couple of first prizes in Lucky Lotteries, and even an $8.8 million jackpot in Lucky Lotteries,” he said.
“Customers are always asking when we’re going to sell another big one, and now we have.”

Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official after their win, the roving wife and husband couldn’t contain their jubilation.
“We’re on holidays driving around New South Wales. We were in Parkes and we thought we’d buy a Lotto ticket,” the wife, who wished to remain anonymous, said.
“We’ve been driving around seeing all these nice little caravans on the road, saying ‘if we win Lotto, we’ll buy one of those’, and look what happened.
“We were sitting at the table checking our ticket. My husband said ‘we’ve got four numbers, oh we’ve got five numbers, no love, we’ve got six. It was amazing.”
For those hoping to emulate the couple’s success precisely, the draw’s winning numbers were 4, 30, 37, 14, 22 and 15, while the supplementary numbers were 41 and 5.
