The man who wishes to remain anonymous, said he only checked his tickets on Tuesday night.
“I didn’t know what to think when I saw it was the winning ticket,” he said.
“It’s very good! It’s lovely,”
He bought a ticket with the prize money from an earlier lottery draw, buying the ticket from Nextra Newsagency in Orange Central Square.
The man was one of 15 winners from the draw around Australia and one of five in NSW who shared the division one prize of $21 million.
“I got $50 odd dollars from Powerball and it paid for two tickets, including this one, and I got change back,” he said.
The man said he would be sharing the win with his family and was still considering what he’d do with the windfall.
“There are a few things I’d like to do for myself. Travel could definitely be on the cards too,” he said.
The winning numbers from the draw on Saturday June 24 were 29, 43, 5, 13, 32 and 1 with supplementary numbers 40 and 38.
Nextra Newsagency’s owner Paul Blunden said it was amazing to think one of the shop’s customers was now a millionaire.
Mr Blunden said it was the biggest winning ticket sold by the newsagency in 19 years.
“We had been hoping it one was one of our regulars, and we are extremely excited that they have come forward to claim their prize and the mystery winner has been found,” he said.
