The regular Lucky Lotteries player was unaware her ticket in draw 10091 had secured the cash until a NSW Lotteries official was able to break the news to her that she’d won $8.8 million.
“I can’t have,” the winner exclaimed.
“You’ve got to be joking! I’m a multi-millionaire? I’ve never ever had any money in my life,” the overwhelmed winner declared before handing the telephone to her son.
“Mum’s gone all red in the face and she’s covering her eyes with her hands. She’s bewildered!” the winner’s son said.
“You can’t imagine what this means for mum. She’ll be able to buy new furniture, do some renovations around her home and make her family happy.”
The Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot ticket won the jackpot prize of $8,820,000 after first winning a $10 cash prize in the same draw.
Owners of Parkes Newsagency Greg and Christene Nash are over the moon when they discovered they’d sold the winning ticket.
“We’re so excited. This is the biggest prize winning ticket we’ve ever sold,” Mr Nash said.
“I think it’s wonderful that someone in a small town can win a big prize like this. News will spread pretty fast around town that we’ve had an $8.8 million win.
“We’d like to congratulate the winner and wish them all the best for the future.”
The Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot had jackpotted for 65 draws to reach today’s $8.8 million jackpot prize – the biggest jackpot prize won since September 2015.
Unlike lotto style games where the top prize is often shared between winners, Lucky Lotteries is a draw lottery where the jackpot winner takes the lot.
This means the jackpot prize can only be won by a unique ticket number.
The Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $500,000.
