Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said he suspected there would not be many dinosaurs and cavemen coming to life but there was certain to be lots of laughter.
“Our Orange Regional Museum is about fun and learning for all ages and providing opportunities for people to experience our history is a range of different ways,” Cr Kidd said.
“Traditional museums were a place of contemplation and silence but not anymore.
“The louder, the better and you don’t get much louder than a bunch of kids playing with torches inside a museum.”
Services Policy Committee Chair Cr Stephen Nugent said the night would include a range of activities around the Paddock to Plate exhibition.
He said there would be a torch light adventure trail, followed by the screening of the Ben Stiller movie Night at the Museum.
“This is something the museum has never done before,” Cr Nugent said.
“It’s aimed at kids between 6 and 10 years old.”
The event starts at 6pm on Friday, October 12 and concludes the following day at 8am.
Dinner, dessert and breakfast is included in the cost.
Tickets $55 per child, $25 per adult and it’s $41 per child and $18 per adult for Friends of Orange Regional Museum.
Guests will need to bring a sleeping mat, a sleeping bag, pillow, pyjamas, torch, toothbrush and toiletries.
This one night only event is for children aged 6-10 and parents/guardians must be present.
Tickets can be purchased by phoning the museum on 6393444 or via the website.
