In December, council rejected the opening of the store before the rest of the Summer Centre complex was completed.
However, before that deecision, the liquor outlet had sent council a letter claiming they would not open before Christmas, rather they indicated they would open on Australia Day.
However, Dan Murphy’s had not received approval until Tuesday night’s extraordinary council meeting, only three days before Australia Day.
The spokesperson said the company needed to finalise several issues before the opening day.
“Dan Murphy’s welcomes the council decision and greatly appreciates the support we have received from the Orange community,” the spokesperson said.
“We are now working to open as soon as we possibly can and look forward to bringing our great range and the famous Dan Murphy’s lowest liquor price guarantee to Orange.”
The spokesperson said an announcement would be made in the next week with an opening date.
