It's Orange first single-digit day in five days and parrallel's figures for the Western NSW Local Health District, which also dropped with only 17 cases recorded for the area after 20 the day before.
The other 11 cases in the most recent reporting period were two in Bathurst, one each in Dubbo and Wellington, two each in Gulgong and Mudgee, one in Blayney and one in Coonamble.
There was one death recorded for the WNSWLHD, a 70 year old woman who had underlying health concerns and was not vaccinated.
There are two cases in hospital but no one in an intensive care unit. One hundred and ninety two cases are being cared for in the community.
Residents are reminded to get tested and surveillance testing is encouraged.
However, WNSWLHD acting chief executive Mark Spittal is reminding people drive-through testing will not be available on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day as most of it is conducted by private pathology services.
"That includes drive-through testing clinics in Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo and Forbes. Some clinics will have more extended closures and some will also operate under reduced hours on other days. I encourage people to visit the NSW Health website to find those details," Mr Spittal said.
"We will continue to establish pop-up COVID-19 testing clinics in areas across the District as they become necessary and will notify of those when required, through social media and the WNSWLHD website.
"Our Hospital testing clinics will also be closed on public holidays. There will be opportunities to be tested through emergency departments (ED) but I urge communities to only present to EDs for testing if it is necessary, we need our hospitals at full capacity."
Mr Spittal said there will be a focus on providing testing for people who are unwell or showing symptoms, but there may be a long wait for testing.
WNSWLHD vaccination hubs in Orange, Bathurst and Dubbo will be closed from December 24 to December 28 and from December 31 to January 3.
New COVID-19 cases shot up to 3057 across NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm Monday, according to NSW Health.

There were 284 people in the state's hospitals and 39 patients in intensive care.
There was a drop in testing - 136,972, down from 144,368 the previous day.
According to the latest vaccination figures, 94.9 per cent of the state's population aged 16 and older have received their first dose, while 93.4 per cent have had their second jab.
