To 8pm on Saturday night - the latest reporting period for NSW Health - 10 new infections have been reported in Orange. Three new cases were also reported in both Blayney and Cabonne Local Government Areas.
Those numbers come just 24 hours after 16 cases were reported on Saturday morning - a daily record for Orange.
Sunday's figure of 10, and Saturday's record of 16 follow days of 11 and 12 new infections, giving the city 49 new cases of COVID-19 in the last four days.
Across the Western NSW Local Health District, 37 new infections were reported to 8pm on Saturday. They have been identified right across the district, too, with new cases in Dubbo, Bathurst, Parkes, Walgett and Coonamble, while 10 new cases were identified in the mid-western region. Six of those are in Mudgee.
There's also one patient in hospital with COVID-19.
Across NSW, a record of 2566 new COVID-19 cases were reported from 148,937 tests. NSW Health reported on Saturday they are reducing the genomic testing in the state.
"With the high number of COVID-19 cases now in NSW, NSW Health will only undertake genomic sequencing for the Omicron variant in the circumstances where it will make a clinical difference for the patient," the announcement said.
There are currently 227 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 28 of those in ICU units. In good news there was no COVID related deaths in the same reporting period.
The vaccination rate in NSW is also continuing to climb. 94.9 per cent of the population over the age of 16 have received their first dose of a vaccination and 93.4 per cent have received both doses of a vaccine.
In the 12 to 15 year-old age group 81.5 per cent of teenagers have received their first dose and 78.1 per cent have received both.
