The Kinross cricketer has scored 72 runs in the Orange District Cricket Association second grade season, tied for the competition lead.
He is hoping that form continues Friday night when they take on Centennials Bulls in the Royal Hotel Cup.
"It's an important competition for us because it pushes our abilities," the Kinross teacher and middle order batter said.
"It's a matchup against the best players in Orange and Bathurst and I think the kids need to see what that's like and they need to be able to adapt to that challenging situation."
Not only can they pull together a group from their two second grade teams, but they have the luxury of bringing in students playing for other clubs across the city.
"It's great that some of the senior guys who are playing in first grade competitions get to play with us still," Prowse added.
"If we didn't have that cup, players like Mac Webster and Charlie Tink (CYMS) wouldn't play with the rest of the team for the rest of the season."
This year, the school does not feature in the first grade competition after they finished winless last season.
Prowse said the change has been good.
"We have a lot of players in the team that probably aren't quite at that stage where they can be competitive in that first grade level," he added.
"We want to build confidence and throwing some of the younger guys into the deep end can be quite tough for their development."
One player who has shone so far this year is Henry Forsyth. He has picked up seven wickets across all competitions at a miniscule average of 5.3.
He is hopeful of pulling a T20 upset against the Bulls.
"Just look to keep up the pressure in the field, a lot of tight fielding," he said on what the key to the match would be.
"A lot of the T20 batters like to free their arms a bit, so keeping up the pressure with not only with the ball but fielding will be key. Then hopefully we can go alright with the bat and score a few runs."
The match on Friday is scheduled to start at 6.30pm at Wade Park.
