Adam Danielson may not get a game this weekend, but at least he has a sense of humour about it.
He was meant to line up for Centrals on Saturday in what was supposed to be the first set of two day matches in the Bathurst and Orange Inter District Cricket competition. But unruly weather has caused all turf matches in Orange to be abandoned.
The opening batter had played just two first grade games for the club in two years prior to this season, but has now found himself a regular selection.
"I'm getting picked a bit more in ones this year which is a new experience," he said.
"Opening the batting, it doesn't suit everyone, so my style works better than it does for others. It's just one of those things I guess, but I didn't say no when they asked (me to play first grade).
"You've just got more time. You have the mindset of trying to get us through the new ball and protect the middle order a little bit. Just try to springboard the team to a good score."
With rain impacting more games than not so far, Danielson has made just the one appearance on the season - a 23 against Rugby Union nearly a full month ago.
Despite the lack of experience in the first XI, he has already noticed a difference.
"It's good and challenging. The quality is definitely a step up, there's no doubt about that," he said.
"I just want to make a few valuable contributions. We've got a lot of good bowlers, so it's important for our batters to make runs and give them something to bowl to."
Weather permitting, Centrals will now take on Centennials Bulls at Riawena Oval on December 4 in a one day game. The other BOIDC games which were also postponed were St Pat's v Orange City, Cavaliers v CYMS, Bathurst City v O.R.C and City Colts v Rugby Union.
