The two-day event, delivered by Orange Cycling and Triathlon Club, is designed to be inclusive of all Junior Triathlon Australia members. Over the weekend there will be skills sessions, a non-drafting super sprint and a Splash & Dash event on the program alongside opportunities for the 129 registered Pathway Development athletes.
The event - which will take place at Gosling Creek on Saturday and Sunday (November 27 and 28) is a double points round and Round 3 of the Billigence Pathway Championship Series (BPCS), with $1500 worth of prize money on offer.
"The BPCS has started with huge numbers across genders and categories," Triathlon NSW and Triathlon ACT coach education and pathway lead, Robyn Low-Heart, said.
"The first two races needed management of the numbers to maximise the development opportunities for the athletes.
"Mixing up the formats, having heats and finals and multiple racing over multiple days affords the athletes opportunities to develop their skills under race demands, challenge thinking and tactical nous in safe environments. The BPCS is an exciting series for the athletes, and equally exciting for spectators."
The Central West will be well represented by several Western Region Academy of Sport athletes. These will include Sophie Martin, Sam Bayada and Jessie Tudor, as well as the Orange Triathlon Club and Kinross Wolaroi athletes.
Orange's own Connor Whitely has also registered and whilst he did not race in the first two rounds, a blistering track 3000 meet time over the past few weeks has highlighted his running form.
Saturday will see the mixed relay triathlon start the proceedings.
This is a new format in triathlon that made its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
It will also be the event at which Triathlon NSW/Triathlon ACT will select the Palladium Property No 1. TNSW /TACT Mixed Team in Junior, Youth and U23.
