He put that skill to good use on Sunday when he took home the nine-hole victory at Duntryleague's Steve Conran Junior Tournament.
Despite the early career success, he is as humble as they come.
"Every time I can think about what I can improve on," he said when asked what he enjoyed most about the sport.
"It was fun. The best part was probably was when I had a few chips onto the green.
"You get a bit more tired and sloppy when you play an 18 hole tournament rather than a nine hole. I've played two tournaments before and at the second one I even got an eagle."
After finishing his round, he thought he had performed pretty well over the nine holes, but despite the good feeling, he wasn't sure he had done enough to take home the victory.
"I knew I'd played well but I was waiting to see," he said.
"I was feeling very happy when I won."
Like so many before him, Tiger Woods is a big favourite of the tournament winner. And just like Woods, Crellen's parents played a big part in his love of the game.
"I started playing with my mum and dad when I was two-and-a-half years old, so I've been playing for seven years," he said.
"I love driving but I also love using my seven iron. My longest drive is 187 metres."
The top three of the nine hole event was rounded out with Lucas Fisher second and Angus Peterson in third.
The full list of winners from the event were:

- Girls Winner: Maiv Dorman - Bathurst;
