"I'll be honest with your, I don't have one," he told a police officer when asked for his driver's licence.
Charnock's driver's licence was disqualified for six months on August 9 for driving while his licence was cancelled.
He was unrepresented when he appeared in court on Monday.
Magistrate David Day convicted him, disqualified his driver's licence for a further six months and fined him $550.
"Did you know that you can go to jail for driving while disqualified, likewise driving while cancelled?" Mr Day asked Charnock who said yes.
"One in 10 prisoners, male and female are serving short sentences for driving while disqualified," Dr Day said. He told Charnock to get a new licence at the end of the disqualification period.
