It's not often an art exhibition opens before the paintings have even been hung in the gallery, but COVID and the "new normal" has forced people to get inventive. Fortunately for creatives, this is exactly what they're good at.

Curated by artist Larissa Blake, the exhibition 'Signature' features 14 female-identifying artists from Orange and regional NSW.
After opening online on Monday, September 6, Ms Blake hopes people will be able to view the art in-person at Peisley Street Gallery from September 13.
"The title was inspired by a book I read last year called The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert, and it's just a comment on integrity and authenticity and finding your own voice as a creative and being true to that voice," Ms Blake explained.
"So it's about your signature style, but no one can can replicate. Like when you are a true artist and you're on your path, this signature style is very obvious and it takes a long time and a lot of practice to get to that point.
"I've been an art teacher for 20 years and teaching a class, everyone can have the same information, but their own mark-making in their own individuality [tends to] come through instantly. But it takes a lot of dedication to really grow and develop.
"Integrity and authenticity is what I'm really interested in... and what all these artists [in the exhibition] do really beautifully is own their own style."
'Signature' will be available on the Peisely Street Gallery website from September 6.
On the following Monday, September 13, the gallery hopes to open the show to public once the regional NSW lockdown ends. For updates, sign up to the gallery's newsletter through the website.
Peisley Street Gallery is located at 54 Peisley Street, Orange.
