Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Western NSW Local Health District chief executive Scott McLachlan said they are still looking to determine the source of the infection of around 20 per cent of the Western region's cases.
"We don't have a source of infection for the seventh case in Orange. That tells us that it could be one of the other six cases or it could be someone else in the community that's infectious at the moment and further spreading COVID," he said.
"Please in Orange, come and get tested if you have any symptoms.
"We do that there are a lot of people in isolation that are close contact or casual contacts, right across the whole of Western NSW.
"The steps that our public health team take to make sure we can identify those people as quickly as possible and get them into isolation and get them tested is just a crucial step for us.
"We know the vast majority of the cases in Orange were infectious in the community."
In the past 24 hours, there were 1400 tests taken in Orange, but Mr McLachlan was "really concerned" about the number of tests in Bathurst, with just 667 done.
This comes as another case of COVID was detected overnight in Bathurst.
"The Bathurst case that was identified overnight, we know was infectious in the community," Mr McLachlan said.
"We don't have a known link yet to where they might have picked up COVID from and so we're incredibly concerned that there's been a lot of people in the community of Bathurst that have been infectious in the community for more than two or three days. There's some real urgency to this."
