You wouldn't condemn any competition if it decided to shut up shop for the remainder of 2021, but Orange District District Football Association boss Tony Mileto ensured that isn't part of his goal any time soon.

As the state's COVID-19 situation worsens, Mileto clings onto hope that the season will be able to go ahead as per programmed.
"We're going to work with the public health orders at the present time," he said.
"We want to give every team the opportunity to play football towards the end of the season, if the current COVID climate allows that."
An important factor Mileto touched on was the drastic benefits exercise and sport can have on someone's well-being, insisting it should prioritised accordingly.
"We should be trying to provide sport to our members, it's good for anyone's mental health," he said.
"But, we have to be mindful of the safety and well-being of our players, officials and supports."
Competitions like Group 10 rugby league and Blowes Clothing Cup rugby are already devising plans to potential cut the post-season short, something ODFA is also exploring.
"We have a number of contingency plans in place," he said.
"If we can get back in two weeks time, we might have to have one final round then go straight to the semis, it just depends on when we're able to get back.
"We usually have a first versus fourth and second versus third finals format, that may have to be reevaluated."
