While it won't be eligible to appear at the Olympic Games until at least 2028, Charlie Bubb is relieved to see Muay Thai finally gain approval on the world's biggest sporting stage.

Alongside kick-boxing and Sambo, Bubb's passion is one of three disciplines that could feature at Los Angeles in seven years, giving the 23-year-old another goal to chase.
"This is something the sport has always been striving towards," Bubb said.
"I'm excited to see it. I'm not sure when it's going to be at the Olympics. I'll be 35 by the time Brisbane rolls around, so I'll be a bit seasoned.
"But, it still gives something me to aim towards, even if I'm just coaching."
Aside from mixed martial arts, Muay Thai is considered one of the more barbaric combats sports out there, which is probably why it took so long to see it at the games.
"I think in the past it's come across as being too brutal," he said.
"They might look at introducing some elbow pads and other rules, but hopefully it can stick to tradition as much as possible."
What Bubb means is he doesn't want to see the sport softened up in order to gain approval of the general viewing public.
Whether it's altered for the Olympics or not, the inclusion of Muay Thai will give today's up and comers something else to strive for.
"It gives us fighters something to look forward to," he said.
"It's good for the younger guys, but also good for us to have a look at coaching there as well. It's definitely something I'll try to be at."
The trio of combat disciplines were also accompanied by three new sports as lacrosse, ice stock and cheer leading will also be part of the new-look Olympic Games moving forward.
Bubb is excited to target the Olympics in the future, but he's now amid a training camp ahead of his September 11 bout with Marco Tentori, the duo set to fight at Darwin for the K1 National Title.
