Rain gauges across the city enjoyed an unexpected 18mm on Wednesday night, with the Bureau of Meteorology's official station at the Orange airport recording 18.4mm to 9am on Thursday morning.
In total, Orange has already received 859.6mm this year, contributing to a full catchment at Suma Park Dam. That's up from last year's total at the same time, when 710mm had fallen to August 12, 2020.
Although, we had 104 rainy days to this point in the year in 2020, compared to 100 in 2021.
Annually, Orange's average rainfall is a tick over 900mm.
Looking ahead for the next seven days, Orange is expected frosty mornings and sunny days, with double-digit top temperatures on the horizon.
The weekend looks the most promising for the city, with maxiums of 13 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
