The green and golds are a perfect 8-0 so far and disposed of their cross-town rivals 16-6 on a heavy Wade Park track on Sunday.
But, as is the case with most local derbies, the two points didn't come easy as Hawks were resilient throughout the entire frame.
Down just 10-6, two blues were knocking on the door and looking to take the lead, but an intercept from CYMS saw them go coast-to-coast, putting the match to bed with the game-sealing try.
And while the ladder might not have indicated a close match was coming, Jones wasn't surprised at the scoreline.
"It's wet weather footy and it's a derby," he said.
"We always knew they were going to be tough, and it really doesn't matter where either side coming on the ladder.
"They [Hawks] did a good job but I'm happy my boys got it done in the end."
One of the keys to keeping such a dominant side in winning form is making sure no complacency creeps into the playing group.
That's something Jones addressed post-match.
"We can't get carried away and we need to make sure we keep enjoying our footy," he said.

- Cam Jones.
"What we're doing is pretty special, but our focus always needs to be on the next opponent."
There's no lack of contenders on the roster, but Jones thinks there's only one squad who can trouble CYMS.
"The only side who can beat us is ourselves," he said.
"We need to stop falling asleep at times throughout games, we've had a couple of little lapses.
"We're doing some good stuff right now, but if we keep clocking off it's going to come back to haunt us."
If you look at the league's for and against, you can truly determine how dominant this side has been as their +174 differential is easily the best in the competition.
In fact, coming into this round, only one other side was in the plus column as Workies' defence has kept them looking fairly pretty on the ladder.
The premiership favourite CYMS will square off with Mudgee next round, before a slightly tougher test against the third-placed Cowra Magpies.
