Community members have until Monday, July 26, to complete and lodge their details on the residential roll for council elections which are being held in both Cabonne Council and Orange City Council in September.
Voting in Local Government elections is compulsory for all voters included on the residential roll. Residents needing to update their enrolment details or obtain a residential enrolment form can do so by visiting the Australian Electoral Commission website or by calling 13 23 26. Enrolment forms must be received by 6pm Monday, 26 July 2021.
"I'd also like to encourage anyone who hasn't yet enrolled to vote to do so quickly," said Orange City Council Mayor Reg Kidd.
Non-residents of either these council areas may also be eligible to vote if they are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land which is not their primary residence.
Details of the eligibility criteria and enrolment claim forms can be obtained from either Cabonne Council or Orange City Council's respective websites. This claim must be completed and lodged to the General Manager of the applicant's respective council by July 26.
Cabonne and Orange will be among 125 councils in NSW holding local government elections to decide their next councillors and mayors on September 4.
Registration for candidates has been open for some time and will close at 12pm on August 4.
For more information about running as a candidate in the local government elections, visit the NSW Electoral Commission website or call 1300 135 736.
The ballot draw to decide where candidates will be listed on the ballot papers is at 10am on August 5.
