For over a decade, Borrodell Estate has marked the season with its decadent Black Tie and Gumboot Truffle Hunt and Dinner.
The fine dining experience and forage on June 26 sold-out sometime in advance, but for the first time this year, Borrodell will commence a Truffle Forage Lunch Series.
The truffle forage and lunch will be held on the first four Saturdays of July - 3, 10, 17 and 24.
The truffle hunt will teach guests how truffles grow and how the specially-trained dogs find them. Both pooches are rescue dogs who were taught how to sniff out the expensive delicacies by Teneka Priestly.
Following the forage through the grounds of the Estate, diners return to the winery's Sister's Rock restaurant for mulled cider and a three-course lunch prepared by head chef Charles Woodward, featuring the Black Perigord truffles.
According to Borrodell, the Estate has the oldest truffle oak trees on mainland Australia - which produces the "elusive" Black Perigord truffles.
"These are the world's most highly sought-after variety, and [attendees] will learn the art of finding and unearthing these ripe and hidden treasures," a Borrodell spokesperson said.
"This is a great event that not only supports regional NSW, but is also perfect for foodies that love quality cold climate wines and the best estate-grown and locally-sourced produce."
The lunch series is on July 3, 10, 17 and 24, from 10.45am. The day commences with an hour-long truffle hunt followed by lunch at Sister's Rock.
Tickets are $175 and can be purchased from the Borrodell Estate website.
