Councillors Glenn Taylor, Kevin Duffy and Jeff Whitton are raising the issue due to plans listed in the Future City CBD revamp which would see the taxi rank move to the front of the bus stop on the northern side of Summer Street, near Lords Place.
Cr Taylor said initially the council was told the Taxi Cabs of Orange Co-operative supported the proposed move but after it was announced several taxi drivers, as well as community members voiced their opposition.
We don't know what the exact position of the council is.

"We don't know what the exact position of the council is, I've got people in the community asking me," Cr Taylor said.
"We believe it should remain at Robertson Park.
"We want a statement about the cab rank's future, there's a lot of people who are confused about what the outcome will be."
Cr Taylor said he and councillors Whitton and Duffy attempted to put in a rescission motion last month but it was knocked back so they are seeking clarification from council CEO David Waddell.
He is also seeking clarification on the parking situation in McNamara Street.
