Following inquiries into the incident, which resulted in two girls being transported to Orange Hospital, the 35-year-old man was issued an infringement notice for drive behind other vehicle too closely to stop safely.
Chief Inspector David Harvey, of Orange Police, told the Central Western Daily that was an expected outcome not long after emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.30pm on Monday.
They responded to reports of a collision between a bus and a truck, both travelling west, on Bathurst Road near the Glenroi Avenue intersection.
About 30 children were on the bus at the time and two girls aged eight and 14 were treated for minor injuries and transported to Orange Hospital.
NSW Ambulance officers reportedly checked on all involved in the accident while the truck driver, a 50-year-old man, was uninjured.
A road closure was initially put in place because the bus was unable to be moved.
Fire and Rescue NSW sent two trucks from the Orange station to the scene but were not required for any rescues. They said the majority of passengers on the bus were students.
