Cafe manager Bikash Lama has been working in the hospitality industry for 20 years, including as a chef at hunky Dory in Melbourne, and he has been coming to Orange for the past eight years to visit a cousin who lives here.
Mr Lama opened the licensed business on Thursday and said he wanted to do a slow opening so his staff could adjust.
He said most of the ingredients are locally sought, including the wine, except the fish is bought fresh in Sydney.
He said there are non-fish options for the burgers, including schnitzels and a vegetarian option and the business will be open from 6am to 9pm.
Freight company hits the road
A family-owned, Central West-based parcel collection and delivery company has started in Orange.
Jess and Zach Davidson started Snapfreight last week with three vans that collect parcels and packages weighing up to 30 kilograms from homes and businesses across Orange to deliver to other towns in the Central West.
"We don't have a third party, we do door-to-door, we have daily routes," Mrs Davidson said.
Mrs Davidson said the couple also run MSP Photography and created the freight business while raising two young sons, Ollie, 2, and five-month-old Harry.
She said they came up with the idea during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when they saw a need for a faster delivery service.
"It's been eight months in the making," Mrs Davidson said.
Clothes shop opens
An Orange-based boutique has opened in the former post office at Molong.
Mother and daughter team Trudi and Monique Wilson opened Suki Boutique in the old Molong post office building on the weekend.
Trudi Wilson said the shop will be open from Wednesday to Sunday each week.
"There's a lot of Orange people that shop with us," she said.
"A lot of people go out to Molong."
She said she initially ran the boutique from the back of her house in Orange but they also opened a shop at Boorowa on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, before expanding to Molong.
