Two men have been charged with long lists of animal cruelty and firearm offences alleged to have occurred in the Mullion State Forest, north of Orange, last year.

In August 2020 officers attached to Central West Police District arrested a man at Orange in relation to firearm, drug and traffic matters.
As part of an ongoing investigation the man's mobile phone was seized and examined, with police alleging it contained footage of kangaroos being shot in the forest and an act of cruelty upon an injured kangaroo.
After further investigation police arrested the 26-year-old man at a Wellington address on Thursday, February 4 and charged him with a long list of offences, including torture and cause prolonged suffering to an animal, commit act of cruelty on animal and hunt animal in forestry area.
He was also charged with possess shortened fireman, two counts of possess unregistered firearm, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of not keep firearm safe, two counts of possess ammunition without licence, two counts of acquire firearm subject to Prohibition Order and two counts of acquire ammunition subject to Prohibition Order.
The man appeared before Orange Local Court on Friday, February 5 where he was remanded in custody to appear before the same court on Monday, March 29.
Investigators arrested a second man, aged 27, at Newcastle Police Station on Wednesday, February 10 at around 10.30am.
He was charged with torture and cause prolonged suffering to an animal, commit act of cruelty on animal, two counts of hunt animal in forestry area, possess shortened firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition without licence and two counts of acquire firearm subject to Prohibition Order.
He was also charged with police pursuit relating to an outstanding matter.
He remains in custody and will appear before Orange Local Court on Monday, February 15.
