At about 10.30am on Sunday, January 3, two vehicles were reported stolen in the ACT.
A few hours later, those vehicles were sighted in Orange, however police were unable to stop them.
At about 7pm that day, a member of the public had parked their car in the driveway of a home in Courallie Drive.
A short time later, the man came out of the home and was approached by several people in one of the stolen ACT cars, before they drove off in a westerly direction.
Then at about 7.10pm that stolen vehicle was involved in a one minute police pursuit with Orange Highway Patrol.
That pursuit was terminated and a short time later the stolen vehicle crashed into a tree in Algona Crescent.
A 23-year-old Orange man was found near the car, arrested and taken to Orange Health Service where he was treated for serious injuries.
Then on January 4, the 23-year-old was charged with seven offences. Those were: Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously; drive recklessly; not keep left of dividing line; not stop before stop sign; exceed speed limit by more than 45km per hour; unlicensed driver and conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The man has been bailed and is due to appear at Orange Local court on March 22.
